Distinguished and Famous people from Langhorne Creek
🌟 Frank Potts
Frank Potts established Bleasdale at Langhorne Creek in 1850, bringing a practical builder’s eye to the Bremer River flats. His background included sailing, and the winery’s history traces his encounter with the district to a journey towards work as a ferry master at Wellington. At Bleasdale he built far more than a cellar: pumps, floodgates, vats and a lever press all formed part of the enterprise. The story of his work connects viticulture with water management and ingenuity. A winery that became a long-running family institution began with a small property and a founder who was prepared to make much of the necessary equipment himself.
🌟 Rebecca and Lucy Willson
Sisters Rebecca and Lucy Willson provide a more recent chapter in Langhorne Creek’s wine industry through Bremerton. Rebecca’s responsibilities include winemaking, while Lucy’s include marketing; both are identified by the winery as general managers. Their work brings together the vineyard and cellar with the task of explaining the wines to customers. Bremerton’s cellar door occupies a restored nineteenth-century stone barn, linking the contemporary business with an older rural building.
